From the very early days of my interest in music I was always impressed with the skills that DJs have being able to mix records in a noisy, busy club environment, to seamlessly thread together pieces of music, to be able to work out the right place to bring a new track in and get a good reaction from a large crowd of people and to be able to read your audience in order to keep them dancing all night – it really captured my imagination.

Tutorial for Setting Up Audio In Reaper

OK, so the first thing you have to do after you download and install REAPER is to set up the audio. The reason they make you do this is because most people use REAPER with a recording interface that uses an ASIO driver. But you are just a random guy who wanted to make some tunes in your spare time, right? So you just want to click OK to that message that pops up, make sure WaveOut is selected and Microsoft Sound Mapper is selected on those menus that pop up, and hit OK again

• NOTE: If you ever want to try to set up an ASIO driver with your sound card, you will probably want to use ASIO4ALL. Once you download and install it go to Options>Preferences...>Device in REAPER and select ASIO for the audio system. Mess with the settings in "ASIO configuration..." until you get the sound to work. Once you get it working it will work for all eternity. The way you would set that up is different for all systems so I can't really describe it here any farther than that. It's kind of just trial and error. You might even be able to get less of a delay in your sound just by messing with the other "Audio Systems" in REAPER, I don't know. (I have a recording interface, teehee).

Basic Project Setting Cubase 5 Tutorial

Hello all,This is my First Cubase 5 Tutorial.
My tutorial will be about how to set up the proper bit rate and wave resolution to use cubase to it's fullest.

Let's start by opening up cubase:

Second, let's open a new project like this:

Now, let's go to the project setup page.

Here is the main project setup page where you can choose the most important setting for all the project.

Open the sample rate box to choose your desired sample rate. The standard sample rate is 44.1 khz, but most of the new sound cards should at least give you 96 khz, and in the major studios and for DVD productions, you can also use the 192 khz rate.  The most recomended rate for a first project will be 44 khz.

Open the small "Record Format" window:

Here you can set the resolution of the recorded wave files.  the standard is 16 bit, but actually it would be advised to use 24 bit.  If you have a lot of HD space and a fast computer, you can always use 32 bit float.
